Mr. Dunn
brings over 10 years of professional experience in venture
capital, corporate finance, strategic planning, operational
management, technical management and business incubation with
top-tier firms. Mr. Dunn has led business units, projects and
investments in enterprise software and Internet infrastructure
organizations. He is an active member of the Silicon Valley
and Pacific Northwest
technology and venture capital community. Mr. Dunn has
worked closely with
Consystant Design Technologies,
Learning.com,
NetMotion Wireless and
SnapNames.
Mr. Dunn
joined Empire Ventures from Pacific Venture Capital, LLC,
the wholly owned venture capital subsidiary of PG&E
Corporation, where he was a Director. In his role with the company’s in-house private
equity/venture capital/corporate development group, Mr. Dunn
led venture capital investments in telecommunications and
energy companies as well as an institutional limited partner, managed corporate development functions and led strategic planning efforts. Mr. Dunn developed an active syndicate of
financial investors and was a consultant to many top-tier
venture firms.
From 1999
to 2000 Mr. Dunn was the Director of Strategy and Venture
Technology at Plural, Inc. (a Wall Street based software
consultancy and incubator recently acquired by Dell
Corporation). Mr. Dunn spearheaded the consultancy’s new
venture incubation and strategic consulting capabilities,
acted as business, financial and technical lead on various
portfolio companies and public company clients, developed
business incubation process implemented by entire
organization, syndicated incubated portfolio companies to
venture capital community for follow-on financings and managed
team of 10 professionals.
From 1997
to 1999 Mr. Dunn held management, financial and technical
positions with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Mr. Dunn led the
Midwest region’s efforts in strategic management consulting
with an emphasis on Internet technologies within Fortune-500
companies. Mr. Dunn consultant with clients on areas of;
strategic technology planning, corporate development, business
development and product development. Mr. Dunn’s area of focus
was later-stage buyout and rollup opportunities for Fortune
500 clients. Representative clients include Best Buy, West
Publishing Group, American Express, Wells Fargo and the State
of Minnesota.
Previously, Mr. Dunn was the Manager of Internet Solutions at
GE Capital Consulting, from 1993 to 1997, where he created and
expanded a new business unit to focus on providing technical
and business solutions via Internet technologies for internal
and external clients, built an organization of 50+ technical
and business consultants with a focus on Internet
technologies. Mr. Dunn led all business and corporate
development efforts for the group. He also assisted in
structured finance and acquisition due diligence for other GE
business units. Representative clients
included 3M, Cargill, Pillsbury, LifeUSA, Honeywell, Blue
Cross & Blue Shield of Minnesota and other GE global business
units.
Mr. Dunn
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Urban
Studies from Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, Illinois) in 1993 and
he is an active member of the community and local school
foundations.
